Contracts can range from US$10 million to US$250 million in the case of off-shore projects the modules can weigh as much as 1,000 tonnes. Responsibilities To create and analyse the designs for the structures required to fulfil the company's contracts. Also to integrate the structural design activities with the other relevant processes and technical disciplines. Production of structural designs for support structures predominantly for single lift, offshore modules. Supervision of detailed design activities undertaken by third parties. Production of outline construction drawings (by conveying structural design requirements to the Drawing Office). Checking of fabrication drawings. Responsible for all necessary liaison and co-ordination activities associated with the structural design. Advising Project Management of specific issues relating to the structural design, eg weight control, change control, planning, progress reporting, etc. Implementation of Company procedures and all other mechanisms or controlling factors to ensure the specific requirements of the contract are achieved, eg quality, safety, efficiency, budget and programme. To carry out such tasks within his/her capability as required by the Mechanical Engineering Manager. Qualifications and experience Member or Associate Member of appropriate Institution and professionally qualified in Mechanical or Structural Engineering. Design and analysis of steel structures (Ideally 2/5 years' relevant experience. Less experienced candidates may still be considered). Willing and able to identify and apply new tools and techniques. Able to identify cost effective solutions to emergent problems. Support the Structural Engineering Manager and interact with the Project Engineering Managers and potentially with the customer on technical issues.
